Jimmy Walker has been named the Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, beginning in June of 2019. He is enters his fifth year in the Athletic Department at VC, having served as the Associate Athletic Director during that time. He also was an assistant baseball coach for two seasons before directing the Pirate baseball team as te head coach in 2018 and 2019. Walker led VC to its first Western State Conference title in baseball in 13 years in 2019, hosting the program's first ever playoff series at Pirate Park. Walker came to Ventura College after a five year stint at Santa Clara High School as athletic director and head baseball coach.
Walker was community college baseball standout at Monterey Peninsula College and graduated from Cal State Monterey Bay. After graduation Jimmy coached three seasons at CSUMB as they transitioned to NCAA division II, while working in game administration and director of intramural sports for the Otters. He spent the last five years as the athletic director and head baseball coach at Santa Clara High School leading the Saints to their first league championship in 22 years. He has managed in the California Collegiate Baseball League for four years, where he coached the 2013 all-star game on national television managing the now Ventura Halos. Under his leadership, 35 high school players have transferred to play college baseball and nine professionally.
