Five members of the Northern Conference co-champion Pirate football team have earned unanimous selection onto the all-conference team, leading a host of Pirates honored with post-season awards. Right tackle Will Bonkavich leads the list of unanimous honorees, along with wide receiver Terrell Vaughn, kicker Alberto Arroyo, all-purpose back Chris Reaves and utility player Juan Gaytan. A total of eight Pirates were named first team All-Northern Conference while six were named second team.

Bonkavich, a freshman out of Las Vegas, anchored VC's offensive line from his right tackle position. Vaughn, a freshman from Westlake High School, shattered the school record for catches in a season with 91 (the old record was 70). He had 979 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Arroyo, a Carpinteria High School product, set a new single-season record for kick scoring with 115 points. Reaves, a wide receiver from Perry, Fla., did a little bit of everything for Ventura, totaling 400 receiving yards and 277 return yards for VC in 2019. Gaytan, a sophomore from Buena High School, was another utility player for the Pirates. The wide receiver had 495 total yards for Ventura as a receiver and running back.

Other first team All-Northern Conference selections for Ventura included sophomore running back Jayden Vargas, a sophomore from St. Joseph high School in Santa Maria, sophomore cornerback Wes Anusiem, a Royal High School product from Simi Valley, and freshman safety Travis Calloway from Gilbert, Ariz.

The Pirates received two second team all-conference nods of offense, including freshman offensive lineman Reese Silofau and freshman wide receiver Mark Ferrell.

Defensively, VC had four second-team honorees including sophomore defensive tackle Dassani Freeman, sophomore defensive end Jarell Knight, sophomore inside linebacker Jeremiah Nunnery and freshman kick returner Chris Atkins.

The Pirates finished the season with a 9-3 mark, 4-1 in the Southern California Football Association's National Conference Northern League. Vc tied for the conference championship with Canyons and Long Beach, the program's sixth title in the last eight seasons. Ventura hosted the Joe Kapp Real Estate Beach Bowl, the team's ninth consecutive trip to the post-season under head coach Steve Mooshagian
