In an unprecedented step, the Western State Conference has updated the WSC North Division women's basketball schedule for the 2020 season due to the loss of two teams mid-season. The conference made the determination after LA Pierce and Cuesta canceled their seasons earlier this month. The new conference schedule will begin Jan. 22 instead of Jan. 8. VC had added games at West Hills-Lemoore and at home against LA Trade Tech to make up two of the four lost games.
LA Pierce cancelled their season for the second year in a row after they failed to recruit enough athletes to field a team. Cuesta, meanwhile, was beset with an unusually high number of injuries that left them without enough players to complete the season.
The Pirates added a pair of non-conference games to bridge the gap until the conference season begins. They will travel to West Hills-Lemoore on Friday Jan. 3 for a 5:00 pm game, and host Los Angeles Trade Tech at the Athletic Event Center on Saturday Jan. 11 at 6:00 pm.
WSC North home games include the Pirates' annual Favorite Teacher night on Jan. 25 against Santa Barbara, a 5:00 pm tip-off with the VC men following against Oxnard. VC will host Moorpark on Wednesday Jan. 29 at 6:00 pm, and the 13th Annual Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Game will be Saturday Feb. 8 against Oxnard, a 5:00 pm tip-off. VC's final regular season home game will be Wednesday Feb. 19 against Allan Hancock College at 6:00 pm.
