      <description>Ventura College football head coach Steve Mooshagian has announced that 11 Pirates from the 2025 Northern Conference champions have signed early with four-year schools across the country. Many are mid-year transfers working out with their new teams this spring. Six have matriculated to NCAA Division I schools, five in the Football Championship Series, another to NCAA Division II and four to NAIA schools. </description>

      <description>VC tight end Ryan Gillum and wide receiver and kick returner Tayvion McCoy were named first team All-Americans and All-State by the JC Athletic Bureau in voting by the California Community College Football Coaches Association. Additionally, offensive linemen Jackson Perkins and Jack Sloniker, quarterback Braesen Leon, all-purpose back Koen Glover, placekicker Bohdie Ing and defensive back Charlie Neos earned All-State honors. McCoy was twice named All-State, both as a wide receiver and as a punt returner.</description>

VC had 14 first team selections, including eight individuals who were unanimously chosen for nine categories. Tayvion McCoy led the honorees as he was a unanimous pick as a wide receiver and punt return specialist and Charlie Neos was VC's lone unanimous pick on defense.</description>

They had scored 17 unanswered points to start the second half, including a 70-yard pick-six by Charlie Neos, to take a 31-21 lead at No. 1-ranked Golden West early in the fourth quarter. But a huge touchdown return on the ensuing kick swung the momentum back to the Rustlers and they rode it to a 56-38 decision over No. 4 VC in the SCFA semifinals Saturday afternoon in Huntington Beach.</description>

      <title>Leon Leads Pirate Comeback for Playoff Victory</title>

      <description>The Pirates had their backs agianst the wall. Down by 16 points late in the third quarter, quarterback Braesen Leon engineered three straight scoring drives in the final 18 minutes of play, running for a touchdown and passing for two more to lead VC past Cerritos 41-37 in the first round of the SCFA Playoffs at the VC Sportsplex. The VC signal caller finished with 427 yards passing in the game with three touchdowns, and rushed for 38 yards and another score.</description>

      <description>The Pirate football team used a second half surge to defeat Long Beach 45-24 Saturday afternoon, moving to 9-0 on the season heading into the regular season finale. Tayvion McCoy recorded four receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown and averaged 32 yards on three punt returns, setting up two more Pirate touchdown drives to lead the way for Ventura. Braesen Leon was an economical 16-21 for 235 yards and three touchdowns to lead the offense while Charlie Neos and Marcellus Brigham each recorded seven tackles for the defense that did not allow a Viking score in the second half for Ventura.</description>

Ventura was able to avoid that Saturday, however, building a 31-0 halftime advantage and cruising to an easy victory over the Bulldogs. Quarterback Braesen Leon passed for two touchdowns while Koen Glover and Sincere Cohen each reach paydirt on the ground in the win. Nick Duffy recorded 12 takcles defensively and Charlie Neos had 11 stops on the afternoon.</description>

      <description>In a season finale that had almost everything, the Ventura College football team captured the Scooter's BBQ Beach Bowl title with a last-minute touchdown, 39-33 over Long Beach Wednesday at the VC Sportsplex. Game MVP Quran Gossett surpassed 1,000 yards for the season by rushing for 175 yards, including the game-winning 12-yard scamper with 35 seconds remaining in the game. VC Player of the Game Ty Ely led the defensive effort with four tackles, a sack and 1.5 tackles for a loss.</description>

Ventura scored 21 of the game's final 24 points, including a 62-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Duran to Tyler Woodworth with 2:25 left to play as the Pirates defeated the Cougars 28-24 in the regular season finale at the Sportsplex.</description>

A pair of late VC turnovers helped lead to a 28-0 Warrior run in the second half as Ventura, who rallied to force overtime, could not turn back the tide in their 45-38 setback Saturday. Daniel Duran passed for 365 yards and gour touchdowns, and Quran Gossett ran for another 105 yards to lead the Pirates (6-3, 4-2). Jayon Farrar totaled 95 yards receiving and 109 kick return yards for Ventura.</description>

BC outscored Ventura 24-3 after a Pirate touchdown early in the third quarter, sending VC to its first conference loss of the year.</description>

The Pirate defense allowed just one drive of over seven plays against the Raiders, and created five turnovers, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions. Jake Murphy ran 23 times for 155 yards and a touchdown to lead VC (5-1, 3-0) while Ty Ely visited the end zone twice on the ground.</description>

The Pirates scored 22 points in the third quarter to turn a 19-14 deficit into the road triumph. Quran Gossett rushed for 65 yards and Jake Murphy had 32 hard fought yards and a touchdown while Ryan Pimentel was a perfect 3-3 on PAT's and 2-2 on field goals. Zane Carter had eight tackles to lead the defense while Brayden Beck and Ty Ely each had seven stops.</description>
