      <description>The VC softball team had its 2026 season come to an end Saturday with an 11-1 loss at Palomar in the first round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. The No. 18 Pirates dropped the best-of-three series to the No. 1-seeded Comets in two games. Aubrey Aguirre hit a home run in the bottom of the second inning for Ventura's lone run of the game.</description>

Emma Estrella held off Palmoar through five innings before giving up the three runs in the sixth.</description>

The game began Feb. 17, but was suspended due to weather in the bottom of the third inning. Play resumed Friday with Ventura trailing 7-5. The Pirates outscored the Monarchs 3-2 in thre remaining innings Friday but the comeback fell short, 9-8. Paisley Magdaleno ended the game with four hits, one run batted in and a pair of runs scored while Aubrey Aguirre had three hits and two RBI.</description>

      <description>The Ventura College softball team opened Western State Conference play Thursday with an 11-1 six-inning victory at Santa Monica. Erika Sanchez had a single and a double , knocking in four runs for the Pirates while Baylany Magana knocked out a pair of hits with two RBI. Magana also shut down the Corsair offense from the pitcher's circle, limiting SMC to two hits in the complete game win.</description>

      <description>The Ventura College softball team dropped a pair of 1-run games Friday at the VC Softball Complex, falling 2-1 to Mt. San Jacinto and 1-0 against Imperial Valley. Baylany Magana had a strong performance from the circle, pitching a combined 11 innings on the day, giving up three runs, two earned, while striking out eight batters. Unfortunately, the VC offense did not follow in the two narrow setbacks.</description>

      <description>Baylany Magana turned in a dominant two-way performance to lead the VC softball team to a 7&#x2013;0 shutout win over Imperial Valley on Tuesday at Los Angeles Valley. The Pirates broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning and backed Magana&#x2019;s one-hit complete game with 10 hits and steady pressure on the bases. The sophomore had three hits and scored a run offensively while striking out seven Desert Warriors from the circle.</description>

The Pirates gave up a big first inning in the opener, falling 9-0 before coming back in the nightcap to come back from a 4-2 deficit to claim a 7-6 triumph. Samantha Soto singled and doubled, scoring two runs, and pitched the final frame in releif to preserve the win in the nightcap. Aubrey Aguirre also belted out a single and a double with three runs batted in to pace the VC offense.</description>
