Women's Tennis Drops Close Decision at Glendale
The VC women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision at Glendale Tuesday afternoon. Isabella DeRosa led the effort with a win at No. 4 singles after a narrow defeat with Dulce Contreras in the No. 2 doubles match.
The VC women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision at Glendale Tuesday afternoon. Isabella DeRosa led the effort with a win at No. 4 singles after a narrow defeat with Dulce Contreras in the No. 2 doubles match.
The Pirates earned a point in doubles by default before Contreras and DeRosa fell by a 9-7 score in the No. 2 match. The Pirates trailed 2-1 heading to singles play.
Glendale was short on players in singles as well, defaulting points to Ventura in the Nos. 5 and 6 contests. After Kira Branson fell on Court 1, DeRosa came back with a love and one win in the No. 4 contest to put VC ahead 4-3. Contreras had a setback in the No. 2 match before Chandra Padua fell in a three-set thriller in the No. 2 slot, yielding the decision to the Vaqueros.
Ventura returns home on Thursday Feb. 26 hosting College of the Canyons at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
