VC Athletics adds Hedegard as third athletic trainer
The Ventura College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the addition of Pirate alumna Carly Hedegard '18 as a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer. She is the third ful-time trainer assisting the Pirates' 20 intercollegiate athletic teams.

Carly comes to VC after working at Dignity Health and the Oxnard Union High School District where she was the athletic trainer at Channel Islands High School for over three years. She has also been a provisional ATC at Ventura College since 2019.
"I'm excited to join a team prioritizing student-athlete health and wellness, ensuring they have the best possible experience at Ventura College," said Hedegard.
"I'm excited to serve the student athletes at the very school that helped spark and shape my passion for the athletic training profession."
Carly was born and raised in Ventura and is a graduate of Buena High School. She was a student trainer at VC and received her A.A. in 2016 before transferring to San Diego State University. While at SDSU, she worked with athletic teams at the University of San Diego and at Grossmont College before earning her B.S. in athletic training in 2018. Carly earned her M.S. in kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2021.
Carly is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, staying active, and traveling to new places.
