VC Athletics Caps 100 Years With Top Finish in NATYCAA Standings
The Ventura College Athletic Department capped its celebration of 100 years of competition with another top finish in the 2025-26 all-sports National Association of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Ron Case Cup standings. Pirate Athletics placed 23rd among California community college athletic departments. It is the 19th Top-25 finish for VC in the 27-year history of the award.

Pirate Athletics placed 23rd among California community college athletic departments. It is the 19th Top-25 finish for VC in the 27-year history of the award.
Mt. San Antonio topped the table for California community colleges with 186.0 points, followed by Sierra (156.5) and Orange Coast (151). Other schools in the Top-10 included Fresno (147.5), American River (140.0), Santa Barbara (139.0), Cerritos (134.5), Long Beach (133.0) San Diego Mesa (131.0) and Riverside (124.5). Ventura finished the year with 77.5 points, sliding in 4.5 points out of the Top-20. In total, 87 of California' 112 community college athletic programs earned points toward the Cup.
Colleges are awarded points based on their teams' final positions in post-conference competition with state championships worth the most points (20). Each college's top-five men's and top-five women's team results count toward the school's overall point total. Ventura completed another banner year in athletics in 2025-26 with 14 of 19 eligible sports with teams or individuals in the post-season. (Flag Football was a new sport and did not have a state playoff, but VC did rank as high as No. 3 in the nation in one publication.) Men's Golf (15 points) led the way finishing sixth at the state championships while Football (14.5 points) and Men's Tennis (14.5 points) each finished among the state's top eight teams. Men's Water Polo (9.5 points) and Men's Basketball (8.5 points) each completed their seasons win the State Sweet 16. Additionally, Men's Swimming and Diving earned 7.0 points for their season finish, but were not part of VC's top-5 for men's sports. Women's Tennis (8.5 points) and Women's Swimming and Diving (7.0 points) also earned cup points for Ventura in 2025-26.
Men's and Women's Cross Country, Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball and Men's and Women's Track and Field and also made post-season appearances for Ventura in 2025-26.
NATYCAA is the professional organization of two-year college athletic administrators and membership is open to all two-year institutions throughout the country. The NATYCAA Awards were designed to recognize and reward overall program excellence at the two-year college level. The criterion for the State Association's division was developed by the 3C2A in conjunction with the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA).
