Ty Morris & Jake Murphy, Pirate Football - Week of October 14
The Pirate football team pulled away from Moorpark Saturday, scoring 20 unanswered points in the second half in their 37-12 victory in the 56th Citrus Cup game. Cornerback Ty Morris and running back Jake Murphy both had outstanding games defensively and offensively, respectively. Morris, a redshirt freshman from Buena High School, recorded three tackles, one solo, while recovering a fumble and forcing another. He had an excellent performance on the outside of the defense while the Moorpark offense targeted his side numerous times throughout the game. Murphy, also a former Buena Bulldog, had a season-best 155 yards rushing on 23 carries. The sophomore averaged 6.7 yards per rush and scored one touchdown in the Pirates' 16th straight win over the Raiders.
