Jaiden Monroe, Men's Swimming & Diving - Week of April 14

For the second time in three weeks Jaiden Monroe's performance in the pool has been noteworthy. In last week's Western State Conference Championships, the freshman from Oxnard won three individual gold medals in the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke events. His time of 49.31 in the fly set a new meet record by an astonishing .32 second, as he won the race by over two seconds. He was also a member of the silver-medal winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. At the end of the competition, Monroe was awarded the WSC's Male Athlete of the Year by the conference coaches.
