Shai Daniels & Viola Barrios, Beach Volleyball - Week of May 5
For the fifth straight season, the Pirates' beach volleyball team had a duo playing on the final day of the 3C2A State Pairs Championships. This year, Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios raced through Friday's pool play with a 3-0 record, wit three straight set victories. On Saturday, VC's No. 1 team produced another straight set victory in the Round of 16 to advance to the state quarterfinals. In the Round of 8, the Pirates won their first set, making it nine straight set wins at state before falling in the next two ending their season with a close 15-11 third set decision.
