Daniel Duran & AnnMarie Patterson, 2024-25 Outstanding Sophomore Athletes
Daniel Duran of the Pirate football team and women's water polo's AnnMarie Patterson have been named as the VC Athletic Department's Outstanding Sophomore Athletes of the Year. They were recognized on May 4 at the annual VC Athletics Hall of Fame Induction and Student Athlete Recognition Banquet and also presented at the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet on June 7.

They were recognized on May 4 at the annual VC Athletics Hall of Fame Induction and Student Athlete Recognition Banquet and also presented at the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet on June 7.
Duran, a two-year starting quarterback for the VC football team earned CCCFCA Region III first team All-State honors for his performance in 2024 and he was also named the SCFA northern Conference Offensive Player of the Year. The Sierra Canyon High School product was a unanimous selection as first team All-SCFA after passing for 2,752 yards making all 11 starts for the Pirates. He had 29 passing touchdowns and just 10 interceptions on the year as VC was 8-3 overall and 5-2 in conference games.
Patterson earned All-American honors from the California Community College Water Polo Coaches Association for her performance during the 2024 season. The sophomore from Springville, CA also was named a second team all-tournament selection for the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. She totaled 93 goals during the season to go along with 13 assists, 20 steals and a 33 exclusions drawn. She was also a first team All-Western State Conference selection while leading VC to an 18-13 overall record.
At the county Sports Hall of Fame Banquet, Patterson was awarded the Outstanding Female Collegiate Athlete Award for Ventura County.
