Daniels and Barrios SoCal Runner-Up, Lishman and Alfar in SoCal Top-20
The VC beach volleyball duo of Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios finished as the Southern California runners-up Saturday at the 3C2A SoCal Pairs Championships at El Camino College, securing a top seed at next week's state championships. Meanwhile, Sadie Lishman and Jocelyn Alfar finished in the Top-20 of the region, barely missing out on a trip to the state finals.
The VC beach volleyball duo of Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios finished as the Southern California runners-up Saturday at the 3C2A SoCal Pairs Championships at El Camino College, securing a top seed at next week's state championships. Meanwhile, Sadie Lishman and Jocelyn Alfar finished in the Top-20 of the region, barely missing out on a trip to the state finals.
Lishman and Alfar started the day with one match in the contender bracket to go to the state championships. Unfortunately, the pair came up short, falling to a team from San Diego Mesa 21-17, 21-9.
Daniels and Barrios won their quarterfinal by forfeit before coming from behind to defeat a team from Cerritos in the semifinal, 17-21, 21-11, 15-12. Their run came to an end in the SoCal regional final as they dropped a 21-19, 21-14 decision against Orange Coast.
Despite the loss, Daniels and Barrios advance to the 3C2A State Championships beginning on Friday May 8 at Mt. San Antonio.
