Daniels and Barrios on first ever AVCA All-American team

Ventura College sophomores Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios have been named to the first ever American Volleyball Coaches Association two-year college beach volleyball team. The Pirate duo are listed among eight teams from around the country, six from california, to be listed on the organization's inaugural honors.
Daniels and Barrios, both from Buena High School, closed out their stellar careers for the Pirates earlier this month at the 3C2A State Pairs Championships at Mt. San Antonio College, finishing ninth in the state. They won the Western State Conference Pairs Tournament and were runners-up in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Pairs Championships.
On the year, the duo were dominant, posting a 30-4 overall record, including a 14-2 mark in the Western State Conference. They were also named the WSC Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year.
In team play, Daniels and Barrios led VC to a 15-7 overall record, advancing to the 3C2A Southern California Regionals for the sixth straight season. They were 8-4 in WSC play, tying for third in the conference.
