Pirates Sweep Season Against Moorpark in Extra Innings

The VC baseball team earned a season sweep of Moorpark Thursday with a 6-5 extra-inning victory over the Raiders on the road. Brandon Contreras had a pair of doubles and two runs batted in to lead the offense fo rthe Pirates while Tommy Castaneda had a pair of hits with an RBI and a run scored. Cole Blommer picked up the win on the mound with three scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts in a relief appearance.

Baseball Holds Off Rio Hondo For Series Sweep

The VC baseball team defeated Rio Hondo 11-9 Thursday, the second straight win by the same score over the Roadrunners. The Pirates had to hold off RHC on Thursday, however, holding an 11-5 lead before giving up four late runs in Whittier. Henry Borjas led Ventura with a pair of home runs and three runs batted in while Lucas Martinov had a pair of hits and two RBI. Grant Rodriguez also homered for the Pirates (14-15, 9-6).

The VC baseball team defeated Los Angeles Mission on Tuesday at Pirate Park, 115, to bring its season record back to .500 at 11-11. Matthew Ramirez was 3-4 at the plate with a pair of runs scored while Tommy Castaneda and Brandon Contreras batted in three and two runs, respectively. Sean Parkinson had two doubles on the day with an RBI and a runs scored. The VC baseball team dropped an 11-7 decision at Cuesta Saturday to fall in the 3-game set with the Cougars. Lucas Martinov had three hits, including a double, and scored three runs in the effortwhile Matthew Ramirez and Daniel Aguilera each ad a pair of hits with two runs batted in. The VC baseball team dropped a 10-9 decision in walk-off fashion Tuesday at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo. The Pirates led 9-7 heading to the bottom of the seventh but were unable to close out the Cougars. Matthew Ramirez had two hits with two runs batted in and a run scored in the game while Jacob Tostado had three RBI on a pair of hits while also scoring once for the Pirates (6-10, 4-3).

VC Baseball Routs Moorpark, 12-1

VC pitcher Jacob Tostado had Moorpark's number Tuesday, scattering five hits over seven shutout innings with four strikeouts to pick up the win in the Pirates' 12-1 victory over Moorpark at Pirate Park. Henry Borjas was 4-6 at the plate with a double, two runs batted in and three runs scored and Caden Stillwell totaled three hits with three RBI and a run scored.

Pirate Baseball Falls at El Camino

In a game rescheduled from Thursday, the Pirate baseball team dropped a 5-2 decision at El Camino in Torrance Firday afternoon. Designated hitter Peter Dufau had a pair of hits, including a double, and a run batted in and Grant Rodriguez had two hits, a walk and an RBI. Ben Drumheller gave up fove earned runs in five innings of work while Zack Serup and Cole Blommer combined for three frames of scoreless pitching.
