It was not the send off the Pirate baseball team was looking for Tuesday as they dropped a 7-1 decision against Santa Barbara in the 2025 home finale. Tommy Castaneda had a double and Frederico Tiburtini had an RBI single for VC. Grant Rodriguez walked and scored a run and Hunter Cervantes also recorded a single in the game.

Baseball Holds Off Rio Hondo For Series Sweep

The VC baseball team defeated Rio Hondo 11-9 Thursday, the second straight win by the same score over the Roadrunners. The Pirates had to hold off RHC on Thursday, however, holding an 11-5 lead before giving up four late runs in Whittier. Henry Borjas led Ventura with a pair of home runs and three runs batted in while Lucas Martinov had a pair of hits and two RBI. Grant Rodriguez also homered for the Pirates (14-15, 9-6).

The Pirate baseball team was nearly dead in the water Tuesday afternoon. They trailed Rio Hondo 9-2 entering the bottom of th eighth inning before sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs to post an 11-9 victory over the Roadrunners at Pirate Park. Grant Rodriguez delivered a two-RBI single to tie the game and Daniel Aguilera knocked in the game-winner. Austin Kurr retired the final four batters with a pair of K's to pick up the win.

Caden Stillwell had a double and a single with two runs batted in and a run scored while Matthew Ramirez recorded two hits with two runs scored and an RBI. Hunter Cervantes was 3-5 at the plate. Jacob Tostado pitched five complete innings, giving up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts to pick up the win on the mound. Cole Blommer and Austin Kurr each pitched two innings in relief.

The VC baseball team shut down LA Pierce Thursday in their 4-2 win at Pirate Park. Ben Drumheller pitched into the sixth inning with the start, allowing two runs while scattering four hits and striking out four. Cole Howard had a two-RBI double and Caden Stillwell picked up three hits, including a double, in the Pirate victory.

The Pirate baseball team dropped its Western State Conference opener against Los Angeles Pierce Tuesday at Pirate Park. Hunter Cervantes had a pair of hits at the platee with two runs batted in and a run scored while Huter Borjas also recorded two hits, including a double, with two RBI and a run scored. Caden Stillwell had two hits, including a double, and two runs scored and Tommy Castaneda contributed two singles with an RBI. Jacob Tostado had a quality start, throwing six complete innings and allowing four runs while scattering eight hits and striking out four.

Baseball Drops Double-Header at Riverside

The VC baseball team dropped a pair of games in a doubleheader at Riverside City College Saturday afternoon, 4-1 and 11-2. Grant Rodriguez had a pair of hits with a run batted in in the twin bill while Hector Pina also had two hits. Jacob Roa pitched six innings and gave up two earned runs in the opener taking the hard luck loss and Jacob Tostado yielded three earned runs over five frames in the nightcap.

The VC baseball team dropped a 13-8 decision against Irvine Valley Friday afternoon at Pirate Park. Hector Pina was 3-4 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in while Henry Borjas and Grant Rodriguez each had two hits. Victor Tostado came out of the bull pen and pitched three scoreless innings with a strikout.
