Pirates Fall at RCC, Settle for Split with Tigers
The Pirate baseball team fell at Riverside Saturday, settling for a home-and-home split with the Tigers after VC's walk-off win on Friday. Brandon Contreras had the only hit for Ventura in the 11-1 decision with Lucas Martinov knocking in Nate Slaton for the Pirates' lone score on the day.

The Pirate baseball team fell at Riverside Saturday, settling for a home-and-home split with the Tigers after VC's walk-off win on Friday. Brandon Contreras had the only hit for Ventura in the 11-1 decision with Lucas Martinov knocking in Nate Slaton for the Pirates' lone score on the day.
Despite trailing big, the Pirates continued to battle, breaking up the shutout in the eighth inning. Slaton reached on a walk before Martinov got on base on an error that pushed Slaton home.
Ventura is slated to begin Western State Conference play on Tuesday Feb. 17, hosting Los Angeles Pierce at 2:00 pm at Pirate Park.
