VC Baseball Drops Home Game Against Oxnard
The VC baseball team agve up a nine-run seventh inning, falling to Oxnard 21-6 Saturday afternoon at Pirate Park. Brandon Contreras totaled three hits, including two doubles, with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in for Ventura.

The VC baseball team gave up a nine-run seventh inning, falling to Oxnard 21-6 Saturday afternoon at Pirate Park. Brandon Contreras totaled three hits, including two doubles, with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in for Ventura.
The game began competitively. Oxnard scored three times in the top of the first, and VC answered with two runs in the bottom half to stay within a run. The Pirates then added a run in the third to pull even at 3-3, but Oxnard regained control in the fourth with four runs and they added three in the fifth and two in the top of the sixth. VC pushed across three runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 12-6 before the Condors' big inning.
Contreras and Matthew Ramirez scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first for Ventura when Hector Pina reached base on an error. Lucas Martinov had a sacrifice fly to score Contreras in the third to tie the game.
Santiago Avila scored on a wild pitch in the sixth before Contreras knocked in James Luderer and Milar Kuhl with a double.
The Pirates close the season with two home games on Tuesday Apr. 21 against Santa Barbara and Friday Apr. 24 against Allan Hancock.
