Pirates Rout East Los Angeles in Return Engagement
Four days after a once score game against East Los Angeles at the Saddleback Tournament, the Pirates' flag football team had a return engagement with the Huskies in Monterey Park Tuesday. Ventura left no doubt to the outcome, scoring first on a "pick-six" en route to a 45-6 road win. Six different Pirates scored touchdowns and quarterback April Luna had five passing scores leading to the triumph.

Sophia Moran opened the scoring with an interception return to paydirt while Tanaya Moreno also had a big game with an interception defensively and three long pass receptions offensively, including a touchdown catch to end the first half.
Sibella Donnelly scored a touchdown and converted the PAT and Sami Nava also had a touchdown reception. Ahtziry Mendoza-Mendez scored a touchdown on a pass reception and Honest Watson found paydirt once and grabbed an Oskie in the fourth quarter. Ventura signal caller April Luna recorded five passing touchdowns on the day.
Defensively, MariahMarie Bernal provided great pressure all game, posting a pass break-up and a sack against the Huskies.
The Pirates will next travel to Irvine Valley on Wednesday Mar. 4.
