Pirates Rout Cal Lu, 45-8
The VC flag football team gave Cal Lu a beating Thursday, defeating the Regals 45-8 in Thousand Oaks. Ava Ortman threw six touchdown passes while Tanaya Moreno caught two passes for scores and pulled in three interceptions in the decisive second quarter for the Pirates (7-2). Honest Watson hauled in three touchdown passes and ran to paydirt for another score in addition to an interception return to the house on a PAT attempt for two points.

Ventura got on the board in the opening period when Sienna Angell found the end zone on a pass from Ortman. Watson added to the scoring by returning an interception on a PAT attempt by the Regals for two more points.
The second quarter was big for VC. Watson scored on a pass from Ortman and Moreno stopped a pair of CLU drives with interceptions. Ortman then found Watson for another TD and Moreno's third oskie of the stanza set up her own touchdown reception from Ortman. The Pirates led 27-6 at the half.
Moreno and Watson each recorded touchdown receptions from Ortman in the third quarter and Watson rushed for a score in the final period to set the final 45-8 margin.
Ventura returns to the Sportsplex in their next outing, a 5:00 pm contest against Irvine Valley on Monday Mar. 23.
