VC alumnus Cedric Ceballos '88 Named a Vice President for NBA's Mavericks

Ventura College alumnus and Hall of Fame inductee Cedric Ceballos ’88 has been named a Vice President for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, the former Pirate announced on Instagram Monday. The 14-year veteran will continue with his duties on Fox Sports Southwest as a co-host for the network’s broadcasts of Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans broadcasts.

Ventura College alumnus and Hall of Fame inductee Cedric Ceballos '88 has been named a Vice President for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, the former Pirate announced on Instagram Monday. The 14-year veteran will continue with his duties on Fox Sports Southwest as a co-host for the network's broadcasts of Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans broadcasts.

A product of Dominguez High School in Compton, Ceballos came to Ventura College in the fall of 1986 to play for Hall of Fame coach Phil Mathews. Ceballos helped lead the Pirates to the 1987 state championship as a freshman. He completed his career at VC as the program's career scoring leader with 1,609 points. He was also No. 1 in career free throws with 304 and No. 5 in rebounding with 665. He also established the single season scoring record of 906 points, averaging 28.3 points per game during the 1987-88 season.

After two highly successful seasons at Cal State Fullerton, he was drafted by the NBA's Phoenix Suns and played 14 seasons in the league for the Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas, Detroit and Miami. Cedric was a member of Ventura College's inaugural Hall of Fame class in 2007.
