Men's Tennis Takes Control of WSC

The Pirates' men's tennis team used a strong performance to sweep Bakersfield College on the road Tuesday afternoon.  Hironori Koyanagi continued his undefeated season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 1 singles, and he paired with Corey Karen to win in No. 1 doubles, 8-4.

Karen also won in No. 2 singles, 6-2 and 6-3 while Guenter Newman prevailed in No. 3 singles. Michael Burr won in No. 4 singles and was victorious in No. 2 doubles with Florent Auteuil, who also won in No. 6 singles.  Victor Ribeiro won his No. 5 singles match and teamed up with Leonardo Santos to win in No. 3 doubles.

The Pirates completed the first round of conference play with a 3-0 record, and sit in first place seeking their ninth WSC crown in the past decade.

VC will welcome Cerritos College to the VC Tennis Center on Friday March 6 at 1:00 pm.
