No. 4-Seed Men's Tennis Hosts Saddleback in Playofffs

The 3-Peat Western State Conference champion Pirates' men's tennis team received the No. 4 seed in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Playoffs and will host No. 5 Saddleback in the first round on Tuesday April 11. The match will begin with doubles play at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.  

This will be the second meeting of the season between Ventura (16-4) and Saddleback (13-7), with the Pirates taking the first contest 6-3 in a tight decision. VC swept doubles play with decisions of 8-4, 8-6 and 9-7, and won the Nos. 3, 4 and 6 singles spots in straight sets on March 4. 

Ventura finished first in the Western State Conference for the third year in a row to earn the home contest against the Gauchos.  Saddleback, meanwhile, was third in the Orange Empire Conference, which claimed four of the eight playoff spots.

A win Tuesday would propel Ventura to the regional semifinals against the winner of No. 1 Irvine Valley and No. 8 San Diego City.  VC would travel to Irvine on Tuesday April 18 if that is the match-up.
