Men's Tennis Sweeps Glendale to Begin WSC Play

The Pirates' men's tennis team opened defense of its Western State Conference title with an easy 9-0 sweep at Glendale Tuesday afternoon. Adrien Etiemble teamed up with Priyank Soni to win No. 2 doubles, 8-1, then produced a love, love winner at No. 3 singles. Alexander Martin also shut out his opponent at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Soni also won in No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0, and Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan were both double winners on the day, prevailing in no. 1 doubles, 8-1, then winning Nos. 1 and 5 singles, respectively, two and love, and love and one. Augustin Lestelle and Rodrigo Perdigao triumphed in No. 3 doubles, 8-0, the Lestelle survived his No. 3 singles match, 6-3, 6-7, 10-6.

Ventura returns home on Thursday Feb. 8 hosting Santa Barbara at 2:00 pm before hosting Cypress on Friday Feb. 9 at 1:00 pm.  Both matches will be held at the VC Tennis Center.
