Men's Tennis Sweeps Fullerton in Opener

The VC tennis team opened its 2026 season Friday, sweeping past Fullerton 9-0 at the VC Tennis Center. Caua Coimbra made his Ventura College debut with wins at No. 1 doubles with Abladj Mondroha and in No. 1 singles. Sophomore Yusen Sato won in No. 3 doubles with Victor Peyrebonne and in No. 2 singles.

Sato and Peyrebonne captured the first point of the day with an 8-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme followed with an 8-1 win in the No. 2 doubles match before Coimbra and Mondroha won in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.

Peyrebonne won the first point in singles play, defeating his opponent in the No. 3 slot, love and love. Mondroha also swept in No. 4 singles before Sato won his No. 2 singles contest, 6-2, 6-2. Coimbra recorded a 6-3, 6-1 triumph in No. 1 singles and Cotti-Helme swept in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Guerrout completed the shutout with his 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 5 singles.

The Pirates will next host Azusa Pacific University on Monday Feb. 9 at 9:30 am at the VC Tennis Center.
