Men's Tennis Handles Orange Coast in Battle of Pirates

The Ventura College men's tennis team prevailed in a battle of Pirates Tuesday, defeating Orange Coast 8-1 at the VC Tennis Center. Yusen Sato and Victor Peyrebonne each were double winners together in No. 3 doubles and individually in Nos. 2 and 3 singles. 

Ventura swept through the doubles competition against the Pirates from Orange County. Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha won in No. 1 doubles, 8-5, while Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme prevailed in the No. 2 match 8-2. Sato and Peyrebonne won in No. 3 doubles 8-1.

In singles play, Sato won in the No. 2 contest 7-5, 6-2 and Peyrebonne produced a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in the No. 3 slot. Guerroutwon his No. 4 singles match love and one while Cotti-Helme captured the No. 5 singles match, 6-0, 6-1. Shingo Ono completed the team victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 6 slot.

Ventura continues its non-conference schedule on Thursday Feb. 12 at NCAA Division III Whittier College.
