Pirate Men Sweep Past Mt. SAC

The VC men's tennis team swept past Mt. San Antonio Friday in Walnut, 9-0. All six Pirates were double-winners, including Yusen Sato, who won in No. 3 doubles with Victor Peyrebonne and in No. 2 singles.

Ventura got off to a strong start with a sweep in doubles play. Caua Coimbra and Abladj Mondroha won in the No. 1 slot, 8-1, and Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme captured the No. 2 doubles match, 8-2. Sato and Peyrebonne completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win on Court 3.

Peyrebonne started singles off right with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 before Sato defeated his opponent in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Coimbra recorded the next win in the top contest, 6-1, 6-2, and Mondroha won on Court 4, love and two. Guerrout won on Court 5, love and love while Cotti-Helme completed the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles.

VC (5-3, 1-0) will next take on UC Santa Cruz and Claremont on Saturday Feb. 28 in Claremont.
