Men's Tennis Edged at Riverside

The VC men's tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 decision at Riverside Tuesday afternoon. Caua Coimbra led the effort for the Pirates with wins in No. 1 doubles with Abladj Mondroha and in No. 1 singles.

Coimbra and Mondroha claimed the No. 1 singles match by an 8-6 count.  RCC won the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. 

Coimbra won on Court 1 in singles, defeating his opponent 6-4, 7-5 and Yusen Sato came from behind in No. 2 singles to win 3-6, 7-5, 10-5. Ariitea Cotti-Helme won his No. 6 singles match in close fashion, 6-2, 4-6, 11-9, but it was not enough as the Pirates dropped the match 5-4.

The Pirates have little time to recover as the host Stanton University, an NAIA school from Anaheim, on Wednesday Mar. 11.
