Men's Tennis Sweeps Past Santa Barbara

The Pirates' mens' tennis team swept past Santa Barbara 9-0 Thursday at the VC Tennis Center without losing a set. Abladj Mondroha won in No. 1 doubles with Caua Coimbra and also had a victory in No. 4 singles to help lead the way. Coimbra, Victor Peyrebonne, Yanis Guerrout and Shingo Ono were also double-winners on the day.

Coimbra and Mondroha were kings of the court in No. 1 doubles with an 8-5 win while Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme won on Court 2, 8-3. Ono and Peyrebonne claimed the No. 3 doubles match, 8-3.

Coimbra swept No. 1 singles, 6-1, 62, and Yusen Sato was victorious in the No. 2 slot, 6-1, 6-1. Peyrebonne won on Court 3, 6-2, 6-0, while Mondroha triumphed in the No. 4 singles contest, love and three. Guerrout went to a tiebreaker in his first set before sweeping Court 5, 7-6 (4), 6-0 and Ono defeated his opponent in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Ventura next travels to Avila Beach on Sunday Mar. 15 to take on Menlo College before traveling to Santa Barbara on Tuesday Mar. 17.
