Pirates Cruise Past Santa Barbara

The Pirates' men's tennis team cruised past Santa Barbara 8-1 Tuesday afternoon, their second victory over the Vaqueros in five days. Shingo Ono was one of five double-winners on the day for Ventura, winning in No. 3 doubles with Victor Peyrebonne and recording a solid victory in No. 5 singles. Caua Coimbra, Abladj Mondroha , Ariitea Cotti-Helme and Peyrebonne were the other players with two victories Tuesday.

Ono and Peyrebonne had the easiest victory in doubles, recording an 8-2 win on Court 3. Yanis Guerrout and Cotti-Helme posted an 8-4 triumph in the No. 2 match while Coimbra and Mondroha won in the No. 1 slot, 9-7.

Ono recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win in singles on Court 5 and Cotti-Helme pulled out a three-set thriller in the No. 4 slot, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. Mondroha posted a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the No. 3 contest and Peyrebonne won on Court 2, love and two. Coimbra claimed the premier singles contest, 6-2, 6-1. 

VC (10-7, 3-0) continues Western State conference play on Thursday Mar. 19 at home against Glendale.
