Men's Tennis Falls in Regular-Season Finale

The VC men's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision at Glendale Thursday in the Pirates' regular season finale. Victor Peyrebonne was Ventura's lone double-winner, earning a point in No. 2 doubles with Shingo Ono and capturing his No. 3 singles match. Yanis Guerrout and Ariitea Cotti-Helme also won singles contests for the Pirates.

For the second straight match. the Pirates fell behind early, dropping two of three doubles contests. Only Ono and Peyrebonne came out on top in doubles, winning Court 2, 8-2.

Peyrebonne evened the count with a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles and Cotti-Helme answered a Vaquero victory with his 6-2, 6-4 triumph on Court 6. Guerrout kept VC in the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 5 slot, but Glendale won the final singles contest to claim the 5-4 decision.

Ventura (13-9, 4-2) will await their playoff assignment as a team, and will also prepare  for the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships beginning Tuesday Mar. 31 at the VC Tennis Center.
