Men's Polo splits four at Golden West Tournaey
The Ventura College men's water polo team split four games Friday and Saturday in Huntington Beach at the Golden West Tournament. VC dropped a battle of Pirates, falling to Orange Coast Friday before coming back to defeat Saddleback. Saturday the Pirates ran away from Southwestern and dropped a heartbreaker against Cerritos. Patrik Bötkös had seven goals and drew 14 ejections in the four games.

Patrik Bötkös had seven goals and drew 14 ejections in the four games.
In the opener, the Pirates dropped a 15-5 decision to Orange Coast. Evan Augusta scored a pair of goals while Bötkös, Boaz Biglin and Nico Rosado also found the inside of the cage. Bötkös drew five ejections in the game and Owen Patterson drew three, Bryce Biglin turned back 18 shots in the effort,
Friday's nightcap ended in an exciting 12-9 Ventura triumph over Saddleback. The game was tied at 9-9 midway through the fourth quarter before Augusta, Bötkös and Milos Djanic each scored goals for the 12-9 victory. Bötkös ended the game with three scores, three ejections drawn and an assist and Augusta also scored three goals. Patterson score twice with an assist two steals and a drawn ejection. Br. Biglin turned back seven Bobcat shots in the cage.
Saturday, VC started off with a 21-11 runaway win over Southwestern. Bo. Biglin caught fire with eight goals in the game with an assist and a pair of thefts. Augusta added four scores with two dimes while Bötkös and Daniel Vadas each found the inside of the cage twice. Thomas Shea and Wyatt Dingman had three and two drawn ejections, respectively, and Djanic handed out a team-best three assists. Br. Biglin and Ethan Ortiz shared time in goal in the victory.
The Pirates dropped a heartbreaker in the tournament finale. Ventura led Cerritos 7-6 after three periods before yielding five unanswered goals in the 11-7 setback. Augusta and Vadas each scored twice and Br. Biglin had three assists from his goalie position. Bötkös scored a goal and recorded five drawn ejections.
Ventura next travels to Walnut on Friday and Saturday Sept. 19 and 20 to play four games in the Mt. San Antonio Tournament. They return home on Oct. 8 against Santa Monica.
