Ventura Opens WSC With Win
The Ventura College softball team traveled to San Luis Obispo Thursday to open Western State Conference Gold Division play and came home with a 7-3 victory over Cuesta College. Julia Garcia had two home runs with four RBI for the Pirates (7-6-1, 1-0) while Roxanne Lopez was 3-4 with a home run and an RBI. Ashley Cerda and Ashley Thorp also had two-hit games for VC. Alex Thorpe picked up her sixth win of the year in the pitcher's circle.

Julia Garcia had two home runs with four RBI for the Pirates (7-6-1, 1-0) while Roxanne Lopez was 3-4 with a home run and an RBI. Ashley Cerda and Ashley Thorp also had two-hit games for VC. VC travels to San Diego on Saturday March 8 to take on San Diego City College at 10:00 am and Long Beach City College at 12:00 noon. The Pirates return home Thursday March 13 against Oxnard at 2:30 pm.
