VC freshman Mariah Gamboa was named first-team All-WSC by the conference coaches at a meeting last weekend.
Six Pirates Honored as All-WSC in Softball

Mariah Gamboa, who played first base for the Pirate softball team, led six Pirates on the All-Western State Conference Gold Division team, as selected by conference coaches last weekend. Gamboa was the only Pirate named to the first-team squad. She had a .580 batting average in conference play and a .378 batting average overall.

Second baseman Lindsey Deitz had two home runs and a double while scoring three runs with three RBI in VC's season finale double header at Cuesta Tuesday.  The Pirates lost 10-3 and 7-6 to miss out on a playoff spot.
Softball Playoff Charge Falls Short

Needing a double-header split on the season's final day to make the playoffs, the Pirate softball team fell short Tuesday afternoon in San Luis Obispo against Cuesta College. The Cougars won game one 10-3 setting up the showdown in the nightcap. Unfortunately for VC, the Cougars prevailed 7-6 in extra innings to end the Pirates' season.

Pirate Softball Blanks Pierce, 10-0

The Ventura College softball team shut out Los Angeles Pierce 10-0 Thursday in Woodland Hills, setting up a dramatic final day of the season next Tuesday at Cuesta. The Pirates are a game ahead of the Cougars for the conference's final automatic playoff spot, giving VC the post-season nod with a split in San Luis Obispo i the regular season finale.

Pirate Softball Walks Off with 4-3 Win Over Oxnard

Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Pirate softball team scored twice to bring home a 4-3 win in their 2015 home finale Monday afternoon. Marina Coffin slapped a single to score Claira Lozano from third base for the decisive run. Carly Camarillo came on in relief on the mound with five scoreless innings while giving up one hit to pick up the win.

VC Defeats Moorpark 11-0 to Take Season Series

The Pirate softball team shut out visiting Moorpark College 11-0 in five innings Thursday to take the season series from the Raiders. Catcher Gabriella Ramos pounded out two triples with three RBI and also scored a run to lead VC at the plate while Alexis White allowed just four hits in five innings from the pitcher's circle.

Softball Takes One From Oxnard Before Rains

In a scheduled double-header, the Ventura College softball team took game one from visiting Oxnard, 15-5 Tuesday afternoon before game two was postponed due to rain. Mariah Gamboa was 4-4 in the game, with two doubles and a triple, batting in four runs and scoring three more in the victory that finished the final inning in a healthy rain storm.

Lindsey Deitz collected three hits, three rbi's and two stolen bases as the Pirates split a pair of games in the Glendale Tournament.
Pirates Drop Pair to Conference-Leading Hancock

Completing eight games in six days, the Pirate softball team dropped both games of a twin bill with conference leading Allan Hancock College Tuesday at the VC Softball Complex. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 6 in Southern California, blanked the Pirates 9-0 in the opener before Ventura bounced back to take the nightcap to an extra frame before falling 2-1.

Yamilex Ruiz had a pair of doubles, scored twice, and batted in two runs on the second day of the VC Spring Games Sunday for Ventura.
VC Splits Final Day of Spring Games

The Pirate softball team closed the VC Spring Games with a split of two games Sunday at the VC Softball Complex. The Pirates fell to Canyons 7-3 in the morning before defeating Porterville 6-3 in the weekend finale. Yamilex Ruiz had two doubles, scored twice and had two RBI for Ventura on the day.

VC freshman Brittany Perez had three hits Saturday in the Pirates' two games, including a home run and two RBI in Ventura's extra-inning loss to No. 2 Cypress.
Softball Drops First Two of VC Spring Games

On the first day of the VC Spring Games, the Pirates softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the VC Softball Complex. The Pirates fell to Long Beach 18-0 before pushing SoCal No. 2-ranked Cypress in a 9-4 extra inning loss to the Chargers. Brittany Perez led VC with three hits on the day with a pair of RBI.

Pitcher Farris Burke helped her own cause Friday with three hits, including a triple, as VC defeated visiting Cerritos 7-5.
Pirates Make It Four Straight With Win Over Cerritos

The Pirate softball team made it four straight wins Friday, and six of the last seven on the positive side with a 7-5 non-conference victory over visiting Cerritos College at the VC Softball Complex. Brittany Perez was 3-3 with a single, double and triple and Farris Burke was 3-4, including a triple, to lead Ventura (11-13, 5-2).

Pirate Softball Triumphs Over Cuesta, 7-4

The Ventura College softball team took over sole possession of second place in the Western State Conference Gold Division with a solid 7-4 win over Cuesta Thursday afternoon at the VC Softball Complex. The Pirates (10-13, 5-2) broke a second-place tie with the Cougars halfway through the conference schedule.

Pirates Sweep Away Brahmas in Twin Bill

The Ventura College softball team swept a double-header from Los Angeles Pierce College by identical 8-0 scores Tuesday afternoon at the VC Softball Complex. VC won the first game in six innings while finishing off the Brahmas in five innings in the nightcap. Alexis White gave up three hits in 11 shut-out innings in the pitcher's circle.

VC Softball Splits Pair at Moorpark

The Pirate softball team split a double-header Tuesday at Moorpark College. Ventura won the first game 13-3 in five innings before falling in the nightcap 2-1. Yamilex Ruiz led Ventura with four hits, including a double and a home run, with four RBI on the day. Meanwhile Alexis White was solid in the pitcher's circle scattering 12 hits and five runs over the two games.

VC Softball Uses Big Inning to Pull Away from Condors

The Pirate softball team scored six times in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from the Oxnard Condors Thursday, posting a 12-2 victory in Oxnard. Lindsey Deitz was 3-5 in the game with a double, three stolen bases and an RBI while Mariah Gamboa was 3-4 with two RBI.

Pirates Drop Conference Opener at Hancock

The Pirate softball team dropped a 10-2, five-inning decision at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria Thursday to open Western State Conference Gold Division play. Yamilex Ruiz, Mariah Gamboa and Claira Lozano all had hits for the Pirates.

Pirate Comeback Falls Short

The Pirate softball team fell behind big, but mounted a furious comeback, falling a run short in their 9-8 loss to Los Angeles Mission College Thursday afternoon at the VC Softball Complex. Ciara Lozano hit a three-run double, and Mariah Gamboa had a pair of hits with two RBI and a run scored to lead Ventura.
