VC Ends Regular Season With Big Win

Six days ago, the Pirate softball team suffered their only Western State Conference loss at home against Hancock. Ventura returned the favor and then some Tuesday afternoon in Santa Maria, pounding the Bulldogs 13-2 in the regular season finale. Ashlyn Flinchum allowed two hits and two runs while adding to her state-leading strikeout total with six K's. Offensively, Isabella Ayala had three hits, including two extra base knocks, while scoring twice with four runs batted in for VC (29-7-1, 14-1).

Ciana Garcia and Isabel Gallegos each batted in runs and Lauren Albrent tripled and scored the game winner in the bottom of the sixth for the SoCal No. 5-ranked Pirates (24-5-1, 11-0).

After falling behind in the first inning, the VC softball team scored three unanswered runs to defeat Moorpark 3-1 Wednesday in a make-up contest at the VC Softball Complex. Ciana Garcia led the Pirates (21-5-1, 9-0) with three hits, including a double, and a pair of runs batted in. Jocelyn Ortega recorded three hits and Morgan Albertsen and Lauren Albrent each had a hit and scored a run. Ashlyn Flinchum allowed three hits and one run while striking out eight to earn the complete game victory in the circle.

The VC softball team scored two runs in the top of the first and followed it with a seven-run second in their 13-0 rout at Los Angeles Pierce on Tuesday. Softball Splits Pair with LA Mission

The VC softball team came from behind to defeat LA Mission 4-3 in nine innings in game one of their doubleheader Saturday at the VC Softball Complex before seeing their 12-game winning streak come to an end 8-2 in game two against the Eagles. Jocelyn Ortega had five hits on the day scoring three runs, including two scores in the opener. Ashlyn Flinchum pitched a complete game in the opener with 12 strikeouts to pick up the victory for Ventura (17-3-1, 6-0).

VC third baseman Lauren Albrent had five hits in the Pirates' two games Wednesday against Victor Valley, including two home runs and a triple, with seven RBI and four runs scored. VC won the contests over the Rams 12-1 and 11-0.

Ventura Claims Two 5-Inning Wins Over VVC

The Pirates' softball team claimed a pair of double-digit wins Wednesday, sweeping Victor Valley in a doubleheader, 12-1 and 11-0 at the VC Softball Complex. Lauren Albrent had five hits, including two home runs and a triple, with seven runs batted in and four runs scored in the double-dip to lead the way for VC (11-2-1, 2-0). Morgan Albertsen pitched the opener, scattering six hits and allowing one run with seven strikeouts. Mia Guerrero took to the circle in the nightcap, giving up five hits with five K's in the shutout.
