VC sophomore swimmer Cooper Fuchs claimed the silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke Friday, highlighting the second day of competition for the Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams at the CCCAA State Championships at De Anza College in Cupertino. Fuchs touched in 51.03, less than half a second off the gold medal pace. Meanwhile Marcel Hurtubise also earned individual points for the Pirate men while Adrianna Bese, Alli Hopkins and Gracelyn De La Cruz earned individual points for the VC women.

Pirate Men 2nd, Women 6th as WSC Championships Wrap Up

The Ventura College men's swimming and diving team finished a strong second, and the Pirate women finished sixth at the Western State Conference Championships completed Saturday in Santa Clarita. Cooper Fuchs came in a close second in the 100-yard freestyle and anchored the come-from-behind victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay to lead the men while Hunter Massey earned silver in the 1650-yard swim. Adrianna Bese, Gracelyn De La Cruz and the 400-yard freestyle relay all earned silver medals for the women.

Piate Swimmers Continue with Strong Performances at WSC Championships

On day two of the three-day Western State Conference Championships in Santa Clarita, the Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued to post strong performances. Cooper Fuchs led the charge wonce again with his second individual gold in the 100-yard backstroke and also helped Kevin Smallwood, Marcel Hurtubise and Tobias Hynes to a runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley relay. For he women, Alli Hopkins earned silver in the 100-yard butterfly while Adrianna Bese and Gracelyn De La Cruz had personal-best times in the 100-yard breast stroke and backstroke events, respectively.

VC's  400-yard medley relay team of Kaitlin Reagan, Adrianna Bese, Gracelyn De La Cruz and Alli Hopkins claimed the silver medal Thursday at the WSC Championships in Santa Clarita. The Pirate men were in first place in the team standings after day one of the three-day event while the Ventura women were in fourth place.
VC Swimmers Post Strong Performances on Day 1 of WSC

The Ventura College men's swimming and diving team led the Western State Conference championships after day 1 of the three-day meet at College of the Canyons while the Pirate women were fourth with a series of strong performances from both teams. Cooper Fuchs highlighted the day with a lifetime-best time of 20.31 in the 50-yard freestyle to claim the conference title. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay also claimed gold while the women's 400-yard medley relay team won silver. Alli Hopkins was second place in the 50-yard freestyle to lead the Pirate women.

VC Maintains Standing at WSC #3 at Santa Barbara

The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams maintained their conference standings at the Western State Conference #3 meet hosted by Santa Barbara City College on Friday. The Pirate men placed second of four teams, paced by the strong performance in the diving competition while the VC women came in fourth place of the five competing teams, just points out of third place. Deon Crilly led the effort with first place finishes in the 1m and 3m diving competitions.

VC sophoomore Gracelyn De La Cruz swam backstroke for the Pirates' runner-up 400-yard medley relay team and also was on the runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay team at the WSC No. 2 meet at College of the Canyons Saturday. She also finished third in the 200-yard backstroke.
Pirates Take 2nd/4th at WSC Swim # 2

The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams hit the pool Saturday in the Western State Conference meet No. 2 at College of the Canyons Saturday with the men finishing second and the women earning fourth place among eight and 10 teams, respectively. Deon Crilly and Hunter Massey both earned first place finishes to lead the men while Alli Hopkins captured a gold for the Pirate women.

VC Swim Competes at 34th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational

The Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the 34th Annual mt. SAC Invitational in Walnut, with the divers competing on Thursday and the swimmers making the trek to Walnut on Saturday. Deon Crilly posted a pair of silver medal performances in diving while Cooper Fuchs led the swimmers with an individual second and third place, respectively. Alli Hopkins and Adrianna Bese each had individual seventh place finished to lead the VC women.
