VC Track & Field Competes at Mt. SAC Relays
The Ventrua College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Mt. SAC Relays Saturday inWalnut. Brianna Torres led the effort for the women with a silver medal in the 5000m with a lifetime best while Cole Everett produced a personal record in the high jump, placing fourth. Mayagrace Wilson, Kelsey Crist, Ashley Crist and Chloe Williams crossed the finish line fifth in the 4x100m relay for the Pirates.

Brianna Torres led the effort for the women with a silver medal in the 5000m with a lifetime best while Cole Everett produced a personal record in the high jump, placing fourth. Mayagrace Wilson, Kelsey Crist, Ashley Crist and Chloe Williams crossed the finish line fifth in the 4x100m relay for the Pirates.
Torres (Oxnard) ran a personal best 18:41.87 in the 5000m run to claim the silver medal, Ventura's best finish of the day. Meanwhile, Wilson (Agoura), K. Crist (Foothill Tech), A. Crist (Foothill Tech) and Williams (Buena) finished fifth in the 4x100m relay with a solid 49.26.
Elizabeth Mejia (Oxnard) placed seventh in the 100m hurdles wit h another lifetime best, and also placed 10th in the 400m hurdles. Wilson was 11th in the 100m while Williams posted season bests in the 200m, placing sixth, and 100m, placing 16th. Leshelle Lee also recorded a personal record in the 100m, running 22nd, and was sixth in the high jump and 11th in the long jump. K. Crist also PR'd in the 100m, finishing 23rd, and in the long jump, coming in eighth.
Everett (Nordhoff) cleared 6'2.75" in the high jump, a lifetime best, to finish fourth. Shaun Tolson (Oxnard) was seventh in the 400m and came in 14th in the 200m, also with a personal record. Meanwhile, Jacson Cutting (Camarillo) produced a pair of PR's, claiming 15th in the 110m hurdles and 24th in the 400m hurdles. Trevor McCarthy (St. Bonaventure) was eighth in the 400m with a season-best time.
Dante Mata-Burney (Santa Paula) placed 12th in the high jump and Micah Contreras (Camarillo) ran a PR in the 400m hurdles, placing 17th, and ran 19th in the 110m hurdles. Caleb Marzette (Oxnard) ran 13th in the 100m with a season-best mark while Camren Harris (Oxnard) produced two season-best times, finishing in 24th in the 200m and 28th in the 100m. The 4x100m relay team of Harris, McCarthy, Contreras and Marzette finished ninth overall and Aaron Giron (Oxnard) was 29th in the 400m hurdles.
The Pirates next will host the Western State Conference Preliminaries on Friday April 18 at the VC Sportsplex. Field events will begin at 12:00 noon on the West Field and running events start at 1:00 pm.
