McCarthy, Everett, Torres Qualify for State Championships
Ventura's Trevor McCarthy, Cole Everett and Brianna Torres are heading to the 3C2A State Track & Field Championships next week following their performances in this weeken'd Southern California Championships at Saddleback College. McCarthy will compete in the javelin, Everett in the high jump and Torres in the 10,000m while also serving as an alternate in the 5,000m. Max Daniel is an alternate in the 100m.

McCarthy will compete in the javelin, Everett in the high jump and Torres in the 10,000m while also serving as an alternate in the 5,000m. Max Daniel is an alternate in the 100m.
McCarthy (St. Bonaventure) posted a throw of 187'10.75" in the javelin to bring home the bronze medal and qualify for next week's state championships. Meanwhile, Everett (Nordhoff) cleared the bar at 6'4.75" to claim fifth place and earn his trip to state. Daniel's (Buena) 10.76 time in the 100m placed him fifth, earning an alternate place in the state finals. Caleb Marzette (Oxnard) placed ninth in the 100m.
For the VC women, Torres (Oxnard) ran a 19:44.04 time in the 5,000m to earn an alternate spot at state. She had previously qualified for the championships in the 10,000m. Ashley Crist (Foothill Tech) finished 11th in the long jump while the 4x100m relay team of Kelsey Crist (Foothill Tech), Leshelle Lee (Channel Islands), A. Crist and Chloe Williams (Buena) came in seventh.
Ventura's men's team accumulated 14 points to place 12th as a team with 23 schools earning points in the meet. The Pirate women earned 12 points to place 15th of 21 scoring teams.
The 3C2A State Championships will be held Friday and Saturday May 16 and 17 at San Mateo.
