The Pirates (3-4-2) were on the defensive for a vast majority of the first half. The Lasers totaled five shots in the first 45 minutes, but the VC defense held fast, keeping IVC out of the net.
Ventura did create some offensive chances, including in the 37th minute when Jennifer Ramirez made a pass down the sideline to Cristal Vargas. The IVC defense stopped the attack by clearing the ball past the goal line, setting up Quinonez's corner kick that bent into the goal off the crossbar for the lone score of the game.
