Pirates draw at home against Pierce
The VC women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against Los ANgeles Pierce COllege Friday night at the VC Sportsplex. Janessah Gonzalez had four saves in goal to preserve the shutout for the Pirates and Tanaya Moreno also had a solid outing defensively for Ventura (5-5-3, 2-1-1).

The VC women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw against Los Angeles Pierce College Friday night at the VC Sportsplex. Janessah Gonzalez had four saves in goal to preserve the shutout for the Pirates and Tanaya Moreno also had a solid outing defensively for Ventura (5-5-3, 2-1-1).
The defenses were dominant in the first 45 minutes with neither side establishing any tempo or rhythm on offense. The Pirates totaled a pair of shots with one on goal in the half while The Brahmas had three shots total, one on frame.
The second half was more of the same for both squads. Jennifer Ramirez had VC's best chance to score in the 89th minute when she beat a Pierce defender and crossed the ball into the box,but the Pirates were unable to capitalize. both teams finished with five shots, three on goal.
Ventura continues Western State Conference play on Tuesday Oct. 14 at Santa Barbara. Kickoff at La Playa Stadium is slated for 7:00 pm.
