Both teams emphasized their defense in play early on with neither offense able to break through. Jazzy Moreno and Jennifer Ramirez each had solid looks at the goal but were unable to score in the first half for VC.
Samantha Quinonez joined the offensive attack for Ventura (6-6-4, 3-2-2) following halftime, but despite the Pirates' best efforts, they were unable to record a score.
Meanwhile, the defense anchored by Leslie Torres and Tanaya Moreno helped Gonzalez turn back the Raiders' chances as well to earn the point with the draw.
Ventura finished the game with 14 shots total, nine on goal, while Moorpark had 10 shots overall, five on target.
The Pirates return to the pitch at Cuesta on Tuesday Oct. 28. The match will be the 350th Western State Conference contest in program history and the 650th game for Ventura since the program's inception in 1996. The Pirates are currently 425-146-78 overall and 275-44-30 in conference games.
