Pirtaes and Brahmas battle to scoreless draw
The VC womn's soccer team traveled to Woodland Hills Tuesday afternoon, battling Los Angeles Pierce to a 0-0 draw in Western State Conference play. The game was another physical contest between the two teams as strong defensive play kept the offenses off balance for the majority of the contest. Pirate goalkeeper Janessh Gonzalez posted her ninth shutout of the season and center backs Leslie Torres and Tanaya Moreno each played well, alsong with center mid Klarissa Melgoza.

With the tie, Ventura (5-2-3, 18 points) remains one point behind Pierce (5-1-4, 19 points) for second place in the conference table behind first place Santa Barbara (7-0-2, 23 points).
The Pirates were limited to six shots overall in the game, three on goal, while Pierce totaled eight with five on target.
Ventura's best scoring opportunity came in the final two minutes of play when Viviana Marmolejo went 1-on-1 with the Brahma goalkeeper, only to be denied.
VC (8-6-5, overall) next hosts Santa Barbara on Friday Nov. 7 at 7:00 pm.
