Hoffman to be inducted into US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame
Ventura College head women's soccer coach Steve Hoffman has been tabbed for induction into the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by Cal South, the official youth and adult state soccer association of the United States Soccer Federation, US Youth Soccer, and the United States Adult Soccer Association. The 30-year veteran Pirate coach was also the Director of Coaching Education and Player Development for the organization for 28 years before his retirement in 2024.

"This recognition is a true reflection of decades of leadership, dedication, and impact on the game of soccer and the countless players, coaches, and communities influenced along the way. His passion for youth development and commitment to growing the sport have left a lasting legacy that continues to shape the future of soccer in the United States."
Hoffman will be entering his 31st year as the Pirates' head coach in 2026. He is the only coach in the history of the program at Ventura College. In 29 seasons directing the Pirates, Hoffy has led the team to an overall record of 437-154-86 (a .709 winning percentage) and a 284-46-36 (.825) mark in Western State Conference play. His teams have claimed 17 WSC championships and advanced to the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoff is 28 of those 29 seasons.
Hoffman worked with Cal South for 28 years, beginning in 1998 as the part-time Director of Coaching Education, moving to a full-time role three years later. During his tenure with Cal South, their Olympic Development Program saw overwhelming success at both the regional and national levels, as Cal South ODP teams captured 116 U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional ODP Championships and then an incredible 38 U.S. Youth Soccer National ODP titles. He also had a hand in scouting, identifying, and shepherding scores of talented Southern Californian soccer players who went on to great success in the college, national, and professional ranks. He retired from Cal South inon March 31, 2024.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on August 29, 2026, during the US Youth Soccer Recognition Luncheon in Dallas, Texas.
