The Pirates' women's tennis doubles team of Karissa garland and Tanya Thompson qualified for the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai Tournament at the Western State Conference Championships Friday and Saturday at the VC Tennis Center. After an opening round bye, the pair won their Round of 16 match against opponents from Antelope Valley, 8-3, to qualify for state. On Saturday the duo fell to the No. 2-seeded pair from Bakersfield 8-5.

VC freshman Denissa Garcoa won her No. 4 singles match in three sets, and teamed up wit Keressa Garland to win in No. 2 doubles, but the Pirates fell to visiting Bakersfield 6-3 Thursday afternoon.
Pirates Split Matches, Lose by Default to Bakersfield

The VC women's tennis team split the six matches played on the court against Bakersfield on thursday afternoon, but fell to defeat 6-3 against the Renegades due to a shortage of available players at the VC Tennis Center. Keressa Garland won her No. 3 singles match while Denissa Garcia prevailed in a 3-set match at No. 4. Garcia and Garlans also won an extended match in No. 2 doubles for the Pirates (5-12, 5-8).

VC freshman Victoria Neumann won her No. 1 singles match Tuesday at Antelope Valley College. The Pirates fell 6-3 to the Marauders.
Women's Tennis Falls at Antelope Valley

The Pirates' women's tennis team took a hit by default, falling to Antelope Valley College 6-3 Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster. The Pirates lost two points, one at No. 6 singles and the other at No. 3 doubles as they did not have six available players, for the difference in the match. Victoria Neumann and Denissa Garcia won in singles play while Tanya Thompson and Keressa Garland posted a doubles victory for VC (5-11, 5-7).

Women's Tennis Defeats Victor Valley

The Ventura College women's tennis team welcomed the Victor Valley to the beach Tuesday afternoon, sending the Rams back to the desert with a 7-2 defeat in Western State Conference action at the VC Tennis Center. Keressa Garland and Denissa Garcia each posted 6-1, 6-0 victories in their Nos. 3 and 4 singles matches, respectively. Then the duo teamed up for an 8-3 win in No. 2 doubles to pace the Pirates (4-10, 4-6).

Victoria Nuemann was a double winner on Tuesday, taking No. 1 singles and pairing with Tanya Thompson in No. 1 doubles as Ventura defeated Antelope Valley 7-2 at the VC Tennis Center.
Pirates Even WSC Record With Victory Over AVC

The VC women's tennis team evened their Western State Conference record halfway through conference play with a 7-2 victory over Antelope Valley at the VC Tennis Center on Tuesday. Tanya Thompson posted the largest margin of victory in singles for the Pirates (3-6, 3-3), a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2, and she paired with Victoria Nuemann for another in in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.

Pirate freshman Aliyah Amaya came from behind in her No. 3 singles match to claim a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory, helping Ventura to a 5-4 win at Santa Monica College Thursday afternoon in a Western State Conference match.
VC Takes Second Straight Match, Defeats Santa Monica

The Pirates' women's tennis team made it two straight victories Thursday with a narrow 5-4 win at Santa Monica College. Aliyah Amaya and Cali Iadevaia each won their singles matches in a third set and Denissa Garcia also claimed a singles point to lead Ventura (2-6, 2-3) to the Western State Conference win.

Keressa Garland (No. 3, singles), Aliyah Amaya (No. 4) and Cali Iadevaia (No. 5) led the charge, all posting 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play. Tanya Thompson also recorded a win at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
