Women's Tennis Falls at Glendale

The Pirates' women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at conference leading Glendale on Tuesday afternoon. Alexis Schmidt and Marcie McTigue won in No. 2 doubles for the lone point for the Pirates (3-4, 3-4) while Talia Lieb and Nell Elaerts dropped a close decision in No. 1 doubles and each played strong in singles.

In doubled play, the Vaqueros took a quick lead defeating Belladora Moga and Dee Emami in the No. 3 slot. Lieb and Elaerts dropped a close 9-7 decision in No. 1 doubles before Schmidt and McTigue salvaged a point for VC with a 9-8 (3) win in the No. 2 match.

Glendale swept singles play with Lieb almost posting a comeback in her 6-2, 6-7 (3) 10-4 setback at No. 1. Elaerts also put up solid play in the no. 2 slot, falling 7-6 (6), 6-3. Moga also had a narrow defeat in No. 4 singles, 7-6 (3), 6-4.

The Pirates next hit the courts on Thursday March 9, hosting College of the Canyons. Doubles play will begin at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.
