Women's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

The Ventura College women's tennis team earned All-Academic Team honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association last week. The Pirates were one of 21 JUCO women's tennis teams from around the country recognized by the ITA for academic excellence. Additionally, VC had four student athletes awarded Scholar Athlete awards for outstanding individual accomplishment in the classroom.

DeRosa, Moga Compete at The Ojai

The VC women's tennis season came to a close Thursday as sophomores Bella DeRosa and Bella Moga competed in the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai. Moga competed in the singles competition and the duo played in the doubles draw on the final weekend of the season.

Schmidt Makes Strong Run toward State

VC women's tennis sophomore Alexis Schmidt made a strong run at qualifying for the 3C2A State Championships Friday, falling one victory short of making it to The Ojai. After falling in her Round of 32 match of the Western State Conference Championships Tuesday, by two points in a super-tiebreaker, Schmidt won three matches Friday in the back draw before falling in the final match.

Moga and DeRosa Qualify for State at WSC Tourney

Bella Moga advanced to the round of 32 in singles play, while Moga and doubles partner Bella DeRosa won their first match of the day Tuesday, qualifying for the 3C2A State Chamnpionships, as the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships began at the VC Tennis Center.

Women's Tennis Drops Regular Season Finale at GCC

The VC women's tennis team closed the regular season Tuesday with an 8-1 defeat at Glendale. Bella Moga and Beryllyn Paz captured the lone point for the Pirates (7-11, 5-9) in doubles play.

Ventura Falls at Canyons in Make-Up Date

The Pirates' women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision at College of the canyons Monday in a Western State Conference make-up from March 14. Bella Moga won both points for Ventura on the day with a win in doubles with Bella DeRosa and a win in singles play.

Pirates Defeat Marauders in the Desert

The VC women's tennis team traveled to the High Desert Thursday, leaving Antelope Valley with a 7-2 victory over the Marauders in Western State Conference play. Bella DeRosa had a pair of comebacks in her singles match to win her second point of the day while Alexis Schmidt and Nicole Iannacone along with Bella Moga and DeRosa were all double winners for Ventura (7-9, 5-7).

VC Takes Win Over LA Mission at Home

The Ventura College women's tennis team captured a 6-3 victory over Los Angeles Mission College Tuesday a month after falling to the Eagles in San Fernando by the same score. Alexis Schmidt and Nicole Iannacone won their doubles match before each won in singles to anchor the Pirate win while Beryllyn Paz and Chrystelle Aguiar were down 5-3 in doubles before coming back to post a 9-7 triumph.

Pirates Fall to Bakersfield in WSC Match

The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Bakersfield Friday at the VC Tennis Center. Beryllyn Paz and Chrystelle Aguiar won in doubles while Aguiar and Nicole Iannacone scored points in singles play for the Pirates.

Women's Tennis Back on Track With Victory

The Ventura College women's tennis team got back on track Thursday with a 5-4 Western State Conference victory over Santa Barbara at the VC Tennis Center. Bella DeRosa recorded a win in the No. 2 doubles match with Bella Moga and won the clinching singles contest in the No. 4 slot. Chrystelle Aguiar was also a double winner for the Pirates (5-6, 3-5) against the Vaqueros.

Women's Tennis Shows Improvement Against Santa Monica

Five days ago, the VC women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at Santa Monica. Tuesday, Ventura was able to cut into the deficit in their 6-3 setback against the Corsairs. Chrystelle Aguiar and Beryllyn Paz pulled out a hard fought win in No. 3 doubles before Nicole Iannacone and Aguiar each pulled out wins in Nos. 2 and 5 singles, respectively.

Women's Tennis Falls at Riverside

The VC women's tennis took on Riverside on the road Friday, falling to the Tigers 9-0. Missing a player, VC dropped the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches by default, leading to their shutout loss. Nicole Iannacone and Bella Moga played their No. 1 doubles match to an 8-3 score while Moga went to a tiebreaker in her No. 2 singles match before falling.

VC Falls in Conference Match Against Glendale

The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Glendale Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Chrystelle Aguiar won her doubles match with Beryllyn Paz and also claimed her No. 5 singles match to win two of the Pirates' three points on the day.

The Ventura College women's tennis team captured a strong 7-2 victory Thursday afternoon over Antelope Valley at the VC Tennis Center. Beryllyn Paz and Bella Moga both won their singles matches love, love while Moga, Bella DeRosa, Nicole Iannacone and Chrystelle Aguiar all earned points in singles and doubles play for the Pirates (4-2, 2-2).

Women's Tennis Drops Narrow Decision to Canyons

The Pirates' women's tennis team made its home debut Thursday, dropping a narrow 5-4 decision to College of the Canyons at the VC Tennis Center. Bella Moga and Bella DeRosa each won a pair of points for Ventura (3-2, 1-2) teaming up to win in doubles and each winning a singles match. Chrystelle Aguiar captured the fourth point for the Pirates in singles.

Ventura Drops WSC Match at LA Mission

The Pirates' women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday with a 6-3 decision at Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar. Bella DeRosa and Bella Moga won their No. 2 doubles match while Alexis Schmidt and Moga earned points in singles play against the Eagles.

Pirates Claim Third Straight 1-Point Victory

The VC women's tennis team continued their early-season roll Friday, claiming their third straight one-point victory with a 5-4 decision at Mt. San Antonio in Walnut. Bella Moga, Bella DeRosa and Chrystelle Aguiar all posted triumphs in singles and doubles, with Aguiar clinching the match in her No. 5 singles contest.

Women's Tennis Pulls Out Another 5-4 Victory

The Pirates' women's tennis team opened their Western State Conference schedule Thursday with a 5-4 victory at Santa Barbara. VC's second straight narrow triumph was capped with four victories in singles play as they overcame a 2-1 deficit from doubles. Sophomore Bella Moga clinched the win in the final match of the day in No. 3 singles.
