Tennison, Padua Receive All-WSC Awards

Lola Tennison was named second team All-Western State Conference for the VC women's tennis team, and Chandra Padua earned an Honorable Mention All-WSC nod in post season awards voted on by the conference coaches. The pair helped lead Ventura to a 9-8 overall record, 8-5 in WSC play, and the team's second playoff appearance in three years in 2025.

Pirates End Season at the Ojai

The VC women's tennis team had its 2025 season come to an end Friday at the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament. Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson advanced to the Round of 32 in the state doubles draw before falling on Saturday. Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua made it to the Round of 64 on Thursday before bowing out in doubles. Iannacone, Tennison and Branson all fell in the Round of 64 in singles play Thursday.

Ventura Women Fall in First Round of Playoffs

The VC women's tennis team dropped its first round match  in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs at Orange Coast Tuesday. VC, playing in the post-season for the second time in the past three years, could not keep up with the defending Southern California champions in the match in Costa Mesa.

Iannacone and Branson Fall in WSC Quarters

The Ventura College women's doubles team of Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson dropped their Western State Conference quarterfinal match Friday at the VC Tennis Center. The pair, seeded No. 6 in the draw, fell to the No. 3-ranked team from Santa Monica, 8-4.

Iannacone and Branson Advance at WSC Tourney

The Pirates' No. 1 doubles team of Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson advanced to th equarterfinal round Thursday to highlight the second day of action at the Western State Conference SIngles and Doubles Championships at the VC Tennis Center. Iannacone, Branson and Lola Tennison also advanced to the Round of 16 in singles play, qualifying for the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament later this month.

Pirate Women Begin Play in WSC Championships

The VC women's tennis team began play in the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Fernanda Gonzales had an 8-0 win in the first round of the draw to lead four Pirate victories in singles play. Meanwhile, Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua, along with Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson each qualified for the 3C2A State Doubles Chamionships later this month at The Ojai Tournament.

Women's Tennis Posts Come-From-Behind Win

The VC women's tennis team trailed visiting Canyons 2-1 and 3-2 Thursday before winning the final four singles matches to defeat the Cougars, 6-3. Dulce Contreras clinched the victory for the Pirates in No. 5 singles while Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua were double-winners for VC.

The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision at Santa Monica Tuesday to split the season series with the Corsairs. Lola Tennison continued her strong season with a win in No. 2 singles while Chandra Padua and Dulce Contreras also produced points in singles play.

Pirates Improve Playoff Chances with Win

The VC women's tennis team improved its chances of a post-season berth Saturday with a 7-2 win over visiting Fullerton. The Pirates' Nos. 1 and 3 players Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson led the way with a win together in doubles and the first two wins in singles to put VC firmly in control of the match. Lola Tennison clinched in No. 2 singles after winning in No. 2 doubles with Chandra Padua.

Piate Tennis Sweeps Anetlope Valley

The VC women's tennis team swept past Antelope Valley 9-0 Thursday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Chandra Padua teamed up with Lola Tennison to blank their oppoents in doubles play as did Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson. Dulce Contreras and Fernanda Gonzales also won in doubles before all six players swept through singles play without dropping a set.

The Ventura College women's tennis team took the entire match, but finally vanquished Los Angeles Mission 5-4 Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua each were double winners for the Pirates while Fernanda Gonzales clinched the victory with a come-from-behind three-set win at No. 6 singles.

The VC women's tennis team shut out Glendale for the second time this season, 9-0 Tuesday on the road. Lola Tennison teamed up with Chandra Padua to win in No. 2 doubles, and also won in No. 2 singles for the Pirates (5-5, 5-3).

The VC women's tennis team split a pair of matches Monday and Tuesday, including a big 5-4 decision over Santa Monica on Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. VC dropped Monday's contest against Santa Barbara, 6-3. Dulce Contreras finished off the Corsairs Tuesday in a three-set thriller to complete a Pirate comeback victory.

The VC women's tennis team fell 6-3 Friday against Mt.San Antonio at the VC Tennis Center. Chandra Padua and Lola Tennison won a point in doubles for Ventura while Kira Branson and Dulce Contreras each won their singles matches.

The VC women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory at Antelope Valley on Thursday in Lancaster. Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson claimed a shutout win at No. 1 doubles to start the day and Fernanda Gonzales was down a set and came back from a 5-0 deficit in the second to claim a 3-set triumph at No. 6 singles.

VC Women's Tennis Defeats LA Mission, 6-3

The VC women's tennis team defeated Los Angeles Mission College 6-3 Tuesday in Sylmar. Fernanda Gonzales was a double-winner in the victory with a win in No. 6 singles and also earned a point with Dulce Contreras in No. 3 doubles. Lola Tennison Chandra Padua were also a double-winners with a win together No. 2 doubles and triumphs in Nos. 2 and 4 singles, respectively. Kira Branson also won her No. 3 singles match.

The VC women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision at College o fthe Canyons Tuesday in Santa Clarita. Chandra Padua was the lone double-winner for the Pirates, partnering with Lola Tennison to win in No. 2 doubles and also prevailing in No. 4 singles. Nicole Iannacone won in No. 1 singles with a first-set tiebreaker while Kira Branson won in No. 3 singles with a super tiebreaker.

Pirates Blank Glendale in WSC Opener

The VC women's tennis team blanked Glendale 9-0 Tuesday afternoon in their Western State Conference opener at the VC Tennis Center. Lola Tennison and Nicole Iannacone completed the sweep with wins at Nos. 2 and 1 singles, respectively. Iannacone also win in No. 1 doubles with Kira Branson and Tennison joined Chandra Padua to claim the No. 2 doubles match. Branson and Padua also won their singles matches along with Sherry Bonilla.

The VC women's tennis team opened the 2025 season with a close 6-3 setback at Orange Coast Thursday afternoon. Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson along with DulceContreras and Sherry Bonilla each won doubles matches while Lola Tennison claimed VC's lone singles victory against the 2024 state finalists.
