Pirate Women Defeat Bakersfield, 5-4

The VC women's tennis team defeated Bakersfield 5-4 Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Isabella DeRosa led the way winning in No. 2 doubles with Kira Branson and also in No. 4 singles.

The Pirates got the early jump on the short-handed Renegades. BC only had four players present giving Ventura points for No. 3 doubles along with Nos. 5 and 6 singles.

In doubles, DeRosa and Branson made it a 4-1 margin headed to the remaining singles matches with their 8-2 victory in No. 2 doubles.

DeRosa finished the job in No. 4 singles, claiming a 7-5, 6-3 win to clinch the 5-4 team triumph.

VC (7-5, 5-5) continues Western State Conference play on Thursday Mar. 12 at Antelope Valley.
