VC volleyball holds leads, falls at Moorpark
The Ventura College volleyball team held sizable leads in all three sets Wednesday at Moorpark, but could not put the Raiders away as the fell in straight sets in the Western State Conference match. Josephine Rausch had another solid performance with a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs and Daphne Raymond recorded seven winners at the net. Presley Ballengee handed out 19 assists and Shai Daniels led the defense with 25 digs. Addison Olson and Callie Cahill accumulated four and three blocks, respectively.

Monaye Ramessar handed out 19 assists and Shai Daniels led the defense with 25 digs. Addison Olson and Callie Cahill accumulated four and three blocks, respectively.
The Pirates, ranked No. 22 in the state, led 17-9 in the first set, 18-11 in the second, and 16-11 in the third, but fell in straight sets to the 14th-ranked Raiders 25-21, 25-23 and 25-23.
Cahill and Madison Mierau each had four kills in the match and Valeria Ibarra dished out 14 assists and recorded a pair of service aces. Sadie Lishman had nine digs defensively.
The road does not ease up for Ventura as they will host No. 7 Los Angeles Mission Friday at 6:00 pm.
