The California Community College Athletic Association has announced its academic awards for the 2013-14 year, and the Ventura College women's water polo team has been awarded the CCCAA State Scholar Team Award for the 2013 season. The 14 members of the team achieved a combined grade point average of 3.25 for the fall 2013 semester with an average of 14.7 units per student.
Sophomores Cecily Loya and Brittany McWaid have been named first team All-Western State Conference. They are joined by five other teammates in post-season honors selected by the conference coaches at a meeting last month.
